Everything Bagel Chicken Tenders
with broccoli / fries / creamy honey mustard
What could make crispy chicken tenders even better? Seasoning them with Everything Bagel Seasoning! With extra crunch and flavor from the seasoning blend and creamy honey mustard for dipping, this meal is sure to be a hit with everyone around the dinner table.
- Frozen fries, regular or sweet potato - 1 lb
- Dipping sauce, like ketchup (opt) - for serving
- Chicken tenderloins - 1 lb (sub boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced into strips)
- Panko breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
- Everything Bagel Seasoning - 1/3 cup
- Oil, cooking - 1 Tbsp + 1 Tbsp
- Mustard, Dijon - 1/4 cup
- Honey - 1/4 cup
- Mayonnaise - 3 Tbsp (sub plain or Greek yogurt)
- Vinegar, red or white wine - 1/2 tsp
- Broccoli - 1 lb, florets
- Oil, olive - 1 Tbsp
Broccoli - (If prepping right before cooking, get oven heating first.) Chop broccoli. (Can be done up to 5 days ahead)
Make honey mustard dressing - Whisk together mustard, honey, mayonnaise, and vinegar. (Can be done up to 5 days ahead)
Marinate chicken - Combine chicken with 3 Tbsp / 45 mL of honey mustard dressing (this is for 4 servings; adjust if customizing; reserve the remaining dressing for dipping). Marinate for at least 20 minutes or up to two days. (Can be done up to 2 days ahead)
Prep breading - Combine panko and bagel seasoning in a shallow baking dish.
Heat oven to 425F / 218C. Place one oven rack in the upper third and one in the lower third of the oven.
Set out two sheet pans.
On the first sheet pan toss broccoli with olive oil and some salt and pepper. Transfer broccoli to the oven and roast for 10 minutes to get it started cooking.
Spread oven fries out on the second sheet pan and bake until golden, shaking the pan halfway through cooking. (Note: Check the package directions for recommended cook time.)
When broccoli has been baking for 10 minutes, move it all to one side of the sheet pan. Drizzle the open side of the sheet pan with the first portion of cooking oil.
Working with one chicken tender at a time, firmly press it into the breading to coat on all sides. Add chicken tenders to the open side of the sheet pan. Drizzle the chicken tenders with the second portion of cooking oil (or spray them with olive oil spray; this will help the breading to turn more golden brown and crisp).
Return the pan with the broccoli and chicken tenders to the oven and continue baking until chicken is cooked through, 10 to 15 minutes.
Serve chicken with broccoli and fries on the side. Serve with the remaining creamy honey mustard for dipping everything!
I do like how CS plans that if you are going to heat an oven, you should maximize its usage. Like the flavors and the ease of prep.2 Helpful
I think I'd like these better without the honey mustard marinade.0 Helpful
Loved this. So easy. Can't wait to make this again0 Helpful
The kids really liked this. I thought the tofu should have been a little more crispy crunch. We used extra firm, but they were still pretty soft. Maybe I cut them a little too large? But since the kids liked it and it was fairly health-ish (we used sweet potato fries, but fries are fries!) we might make it again. Used Penzy's sandwich sprinkle and seemed to avoid the issues with too much salt.0 Helpful
This was relatively easy and delicious. The chicken was really juicy. Everyone enjoyed it. Might look for a salt-free everything bagel topping next time, or use a higher panko to seasoning ratio, but it wasn't inedible with the current blend.0 Helpful
I'm not sure I loved these - the bottom was kind of soft, the seasoning didn't stick on that side, it just was sort of unexciting in flavor. The honey mustard was good, but this was just okay overall.0 Helpful
great and easy! we used a lot less everything seasoning per recommendations. will definitely repeat0 Helpful
